Dominic Spiteri

Jazz Pianist

I love jazz and improvised music. I'm currently working on writing and performing some original jazz as well as just shedding a bunch.

I'm often playing several gigs a week, with various groups and formats. Recently I've been doing a lot of duo playing with vocalists / horn players / guitarists..

I've got experience writing and arranging, having done big band arranging while studying..

Always keen to collaborate and get involved in creative projects!

Dominic Spiteri

Dominic started playing piano in high school and quickly found a deep love for jazz. After high school, he studied jazz piano at Ara Institute of Canterbury, and now holds a Bachelor of Music Arts degree.

Dominic is a sought after pianist and performs regularly within Christchurch and around New Zealand. He has performed at both the Christchurch Jazz & Blues Festival and the Martinborough Jazz Festival.

Dominic has a great love for improvised music, and he is passionate about further honing his skills as a pianist and improviser. He keeps himself busy with gigs and projects and is currently focusing on writing and performing original jazz with his quartet. Get in touch if you want to check out his next gig! Alternatively, there’s a chance you may find him on the line-up this week at Fat Eddie’s

As well as being a fine pianist, Dominic is also a composer and an arranger, with experience writing for big band.

He loves all sorts of music and draws inspiration from a wide range of sources; from modern jazz, to hip-hop, though his biggest influences so far have been pianists; Aaron Parks, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.
